RECORDINGS

We sometimes get the opportunity on our visits to record our choirs singing together - people in prison, prison staff and volunteers. Listen to a few of our recordings below!

During the Covid-19 pandemic, we delivered many remote learning resources and used these to shape our return to face-to-face work. We created a backing track of Lean on Me by Bill Withers with a volunteer band and circulated this to volunteers across the country, who provided us with soundtracks of them singing along. We then edited this together with a recording of voices from our return to prison work, in August 2021 at HMP Woodhill. This track was broadcast on National Prison Radio in September 2021.

The other tracks below have been recorded with choirs on workshops in prisons across England and Wales. We hope you enjoy them.

OUR PLAYLIST

This playlist brings together some recordings of lots of the music we teach to our choirs in prisons and perform together. It will give you an idea of the kind of music you might sing on a workshop with Sing Inside.

We often make our own arrangements and then tweak them depending on the group, adding extra parts for instruments and harmonies, new verses or sections, and our own harmonies.

If you have suggestions of songs we should try, or want to submit an arrangement, why not get in touch?
