.Our branch in Oxford was founded in 2018, and has gone from strength to strength. Working in three prisons in the Oxford area, our second committee are working to solidify Sing Inside's position as a thriving university society and engage local community groups. They are working alongside the Faculty of Music and the Music in the Community course, working with four prisons. Do get in touch with singinsideoxford@gmail.com if you'd like to be involved!

Holly is a third year music student at the University of Oxford. Her main instrument is the cello, however she loves to sing in her spare time. She has recently become interested in Music Therapy and Music in the Community, particularly in prisons. In her second year Holly was Sing Inside Oxford's first Fundraising and Publicity Officer, and has moved on to be the 2019-20 Committee President, overseeing the branches activities and working on new partnerships and developments.

I’m a third year Politics, Philosophy and Economics student at St Peter’s College where I’m also a choral scholar. I’ve always loved singing and so when I saw the opportunity to go on a visit to HMP Woodhill I thought it would be a great way to combine my love of singing with giving something back to the community. I was nervous about my first visit but as soon as I was there I enjoyed every minute and came away feeling really enthusiastic about Sing Inside and everything they do. As the Oxford treasurer, I’m looking forward to making sure we put our donations to best use so that we can go on as many visits as possible.

I am Kiera Yu Jiaqi, and I am a second year Law student at Oriel College who has also had a life-long love affair with singing. I believe that it is immensely important for the community to look beyond the cases and empathise with the rehabilitation of the prisoners, especially from the point of view of a law student. This understanding makes me incredibly excited to increase awareness of this wonderful cause, and bring more people together through the appreciation of music!

I am a second year Music student at St Hilda's college and have a great interest in all aspects of community music. I believe that music should be accessible to everyone no matter what their age, background, ability or circumstance. I particularly enjoyed our visit to HMP Woodhill, and to see the impact that the singing had there was a inspiring and rewarding experience.  I'm looking forward to co-ordinating many more visits like this and to help spread singing further in our communities.

Hi, I’m Rupert and I’m secretary of the Oxford branch! I’m a second year at Magdalen College, studying music. I’ve been involved in choirs all my life, first as a chorister and more recently as an organist, and so have been lucky enough to see and experience firsthand the benefits of group singing. I’d love as many people as possible to get involved in singing, and one of my favourite things is going on Sing Inside’s visits and seeing everyone’s faces light up when they sing. As secretary, I hope to make everything run as smoothly as possible, and to facilitate an environment conducive to innovation and cooperation.

Fundraising Officer - bethany.reeves@bnc.ox.ac.uk

Hi, I’m Bethy and I’m the fundraising rep for Sing Inside Oxford this year! I’m currently in third year studying music at Brasenose College, and would love to go into something related to Music in the Community or Music Therapy after university. The Sing Inside visits I’ve been on have been some of the best days I’ve ever had, and I can’t wait to continue spreading community spirit through music in future visits. I’m looking forward to organising lots of fundraising events this year so we can run as many workshops as possible!
